The Edo government rewards the Edo Queens who qualified for the Super 6 with cash.

The Edo State Government awarded cash prizes to the Edo Queens, the state’s female football side, for qualifying for the Super Six competition following their second-place finish in Group B of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

At a celebration held to honor the Edo Queens at the New Festival Hall, Government House in Benin City, the First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, revealed the N5 million cash incentive to the team and praised them for their unwavering spirit and dedication to excellence.

“I congratulate you and encourage you to do more and make us happy and proud,” the first lady stated, inspiring the team to build on their outstanding performance in the Super 6 Tournament in order to earn a ticket for the continental championship.

She praised the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki for its dedication to the growth of sports, pointing out that “the Edo State Government has hugely invested in sports, which is a serious business.”

“Governor Obaseki has revitalized sports in Edo State over the last seven years.” Sports can only be revitalized by a visionary government, and Obaseki succeeded in doing so. Because of the investments our government has made in sports to inspire our children, Edo State is no longer the leader in human trafficking.
